Global Fest

We had seen signs around town for Global Fest and decided to check it out on Friday, August 16th.  Global Fest is a multi-cultural and international fireworks festival.  There are cultural pavilions to explore, ethnic food carts, and the fireworks festival.  Each night of the festival showcases a different nation, presenting their "pyro-musical" (fireworks set to music) and competing to be selected as the winner.

Right away, it reminded me of Ravinia in Chicago, but much less refined.  :)  Lots of fun stuff for the kids to enjoy...giant slide, bouncy houses, Elmo, and cotton candy!

After our fill of kiddo fun, we ventured over to the cultural pavilions.  Ben liked making a bracelet in the teepee and exploring the tents from Spain and Mexico.  At this point, Nathalie was snug as a bug in the stroller, and the rest of us were waiting for it to get dark enough for the fireworks to start...which was about 10 p.m.

On the night we attended Global Fest, China was presenting their fireworks display.  It was really impressive, and the music was beautiful.  We learned once the Fest was finished that France took home first place, with USA being #1 for Kid's Choice.  I'm sure we'll be back in future years to see more!
