Greg was excited to kick off running season by participating in the 50th Calgary half marathon on Sunday, May 31. The race was an early one...started at 7 a.m. Given the early start time and the day, Greg understood as the kids and I headed to church instead. Not sure we would have seen him anyways, as there were over 15,000 participants in the event! Greg had a great run...his 2nd best half marathon time...and earned a good-looking finisher's medal.
A few weeks later on Saturday, June 14, Greg swam, biked, and ran his way through an Olympic distance triathlon. As he was training, we were thinking back that he hasn't done a tri since Ben was a baby, so he was really excited to get back at it! Here he is having finished his swim and hopping on the bike...go Greg!
It's a bit different watching a triathlon with two active kids, versus being a new mom with a baby and having the help of two eager grandparents! How I missed those extra hands to be able to help snap pictures of Greg and play with the kids at the same time. Thank goodness for this park where we could pass some time as Daddy biked and biked and biked...
Greg had a good bike and transition to his run. Here he is finishing the race, and with his medal! He was happy with his time and is already thinking about the next race...a half Ironman triathlon at the end of July. Can't wait to cheer him on!
